The 1st International Nature Film Festival GREEN SCREEN exceeds all expectations

Tears of emotion, cheers and lots of applause - the 1st International Nature Film Festival in Eckernförde thrilled visitors and filmmakers. Over 6000 animal film friends were in the idyllic city at the Baltic Sea from 6 to 9 September. More than 10 screenings were sold out, additional screenings had to be organized without further ado. 61 films from 14 nations, such as Iran, Wales or New Zealand, ran in the program. A wide variety of topics were presented on the big screen: Wolves in Canada, giant martens in Finland or sparrows in Berlin. There was something for everyone.

With "African Bambi" and "Gordo's Journey to the End of the World", two films celebrated their world premiere at the GREEN SCREEN Festival. But not only the feature-length films attracted many viewers, also three short film programs with five films each, made for wonderful film evenings. Inge Sielmann and 25 filmmakers visited Eckernförde. They answered questions from the audience at the festival and revealed their tricks for filming. The visitors were enthusiastic. When do they ever have the opportunity to talk to a director about a film in person.

But the filmmakers were also blown away. They experienced the reactions of the moviegoers live during the films and received direct feedback on their films afterwards. Filmmaker Uwe Müller in particular was delighted to be able to show his film "Gordo's Journey to the End of the World" to an audience for the first time two weeks before its nationwide theatrical release and to see how the film was received by people and especially children.

Another filmmaker, Jan Haft, was so impressed with the festival and the city that he said at the awards ceremony, "Eckernförde is an awesome city!"
