The great environmental sins of the past – belching smokestacks, poisoned rivers, felled forests – do not exist anymore in Germany. Did we learn our lesson? The seriousness of environmental conservation has reached mass consciousness. But at what price?

Director: Ildico Wille

Ildico Wille was born in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1983 and studied history and German literature at the University in Freiburg and at Trinity College, Dublin. Before and while studying, she acted as director and assistant director for theatre and musical productions, followed by internships and work experience in the field of documentary film.
After graduating from Dublin, she studied film production and directing at the „Huston School of Film and Digital Media“, an affiliate of the National University of Ireland, Galway. Back in Gemany, she worked as an assistant director and producer for „Schätze der Welt“ at SWR and the award-winning daily documentary „Dienstags ein Held sein“ on Kika children's channel, among others. As Assistant Producer at „Off The Fence“ in Mainz, she was involved in the development of documentaries and gained initial experience as co-director and director. Ildico Wille has been working as a freelance director and writer in Freiburg im Breisgau since December 2011.
„Wie viel Mensch verträgt die Natur? Und wie viel Natur der Mensch?“ (i.e. How Much Mankind can Nature Tolerate? And How Much Nature can We Bear?) is the first long documentary she directed.
