Matthias von Grunten war born in Basel in 1953. From 1975 until 1980 he studied at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen in Munich and graduated with his feature film “Quelle Günther”. In the time following he worked as cutter, camera man, assistant editor in several film productions. Since 1986 he directed numerous documentaries for cinema and TV.
