Bee wild!

Standing in front of fruit trees and watching the busy honey bees pollinating the blossoms is a big sign of spring. But a closer look at these tiny benefactors reveals that they have very different colors. Gray, orange, yellow. Only one variety of bees is nowhere to be seen in this country: the dark honeybee. Apis mellifera mellifera: the honey bee that has been native here for thousands of years. It was perfectly adapted to the environment of Central Europe. Nevertheless, it has disappeared almost completely.
