Life in Hell - Survivors of Salt and Acid

Some animals have acquired peculiar habits and adaptations in order to thrive in their environments. Scientists investigate how these species manage to survive in water as acidic as vinegar or as alkaline as detergents.

The list of extremophilic organisms is still growing, but already new hypotheses about life on earth are emerging. The film shows lakes in New Zealand, California, Tanzania and Senegal.
