Director: Marcel Kolvenbach

Marcel Kolvenbach, born 1969, graduated in the field of visual communication (photography and film) at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf in 1993. Since then, he has been working as a freelance writer and documentary filmmaker for WDR, ARD, ZDF, ARTE and others. Many of his documentaries and short films have been screened at festivals in Canada, Cuba and the US. In 2005 at the New York Festivals, he received the Bronze award together with his colleague Eki Sieker for the ARTE documentary "Das Geheimnis der Fledermaus" about US involvement in Cuba. 2006 he was nominated for the Civis Prize with his documentary "Tod in der Zelle" about the death of an asylum-seeker in German police custody.
