In every 10 years the European forests are threatened by a small animal. In 2004 and 2005 nearly 100.000 hectar Hungarian forests were defoliated by the Gipsy Moth caterpillars which attacked in billions number.
For this reason no other insect got so much media attention as the Gypsy Moth. Dreadfull and helpless news were published that forests would die out in Hungary.
But the problem was solved by the Nature itself, what disclosed an extreme and spectacular ecological event to the scientists.
