Die Story: Datteln 4

Totgeburt eines Großprojekts?

In May 2020, the Datteln 4 hard coal-fired power plant went on stream. For some, a climate policy lapse, for others a modern 'bridge technology' into a Co2 neutral aeon. Despite the coal phase-out, politicians tried to save the power plant. The film shows what ails many large-scale projects in Germany: Non-transparent upfront agreements, lack of citizen participation, shunting political responsibility to the courts. And it asks who calls the shots when it comes to environmental protection.
