Eastern Poland is one of the last truly wild regions in Europe. Here are animals that have long since disappeared elsewhere. The primeval forest of Bialowieza is home to around 1,500 bisons - huge and enduring wild cattle. The Biebrza lowlands form the largest national park in Poland and are of utmost value for beavers, otters and countless waterfowl. But even here nature is in danger!
