Green Screen Festival 2017: Poster focuses on the main 2017 topic “Future of Our Oceans”

This year’s international Green Screen Festival Eckernfoerde has a new poster animal: a blue shark.

[Translate to English:] Blauhai (lat. Prionace glauca)

Uli Kunz, a photographer from Kiel, has shot the impressive photograph off the Azores. Graphically reduced to shades of blue and white the blue shark appears to boldly stare at the viewer. The effect is striking and conspicuous.

“That maritime subject underlines this year’s main Green Screen topic” explained festival manager Markus Behrens at the Eckernfoerde press presentation of the poster on 26 January. The festival will offer a number of special events around the main theme “Future of Our Oceans” starting with the “Eckernfoerde Talks”, a political panel discussion traditionally opening the festival. The professional sessions will include a workshop on underwater filming over several days comprising practical sessions in the Baltic Sea off the convention centre managed in cooperation with a local diving school.

The maritime Green Screen motto aligns with the Scientific Year 2016/17 “Seas, Oceans: Discovery. Benefits. Protection” initiated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in cooperation with “Wissenschaft im Dialog”, an initiative of Germany’s scientific community. The Scientific Year promotes a public dialogue about the multifaceted aspects of marine research and provides insight into the German state-of-the-art fleet of research vessels.
