The 5th GREEN SCREEN Festival is ready to go

Watching 140 films in five days - the Green Screen Jury had rectangular eyes the following monday.

There were more entries than ever before: 196 films from 35 countries. 140 of them longer than 45 minutes. That meant 12 hour marathon sessions each day for the five members of the jury around Dieter Hoese.
The jury members have all very different backgrounds: Ulrich Ehlers, a long time jury member  is media educator. Dieter Hoese worked as a director of fotography with Heinz Sielmann for many years, Heinz von Mattey is film producer and Claudia Sewig is a journalist at Hamburger Abendblatt,  Michael Pakschieß leads the office for Preservation and Landscape planing in Eckernförde.

There was no unifying criteria determining all of the jury members decisions. Each person was aware of the things that were important to them. "Despite our different backgrounds we agreed astonishingly fast" explained producer Heinz von Mattey.

They probably had the most important job of the festival: to select  68 feature length films for the festivals programme, out of the mass of submissions  Additionally 3 "doubles" made of two 30 minute films, and four short films.
The jury also nominated three entries for each of the ten award kategories. It will be now up to the award jury to pick out the final winners.

There are two new awards this year: The people of Eckernförde will have the opportunity to pick the winner for the Eckernförder Award of the Audience and the jury picked a Special Jury Award.
In the competition again this year will be some of the last years award winners, like Jan Haft, along with promising newcomers.

Dieter Hoese is content with the outcome:
The audience can look forward to many fascinating stories and remarkable technically advanced imagery as well as crucial ecological statements on September 7th to 12th at the fifth international GREEN-SCREEN-Nature Film Festival.
