South African Documentary “My Octopus Teacher” Winner of Green Screen International Wildlife Film Festival

Eckernfoerde, 12th September, 2020. On Saturday, this year’s winners of the 14th Green Screen International Wildlife Film Festival were announced at Eckernfoerde. Festival director and tv host Dirk Steffens presented the Green Screen “Best Film” award worth 10,000 Euros to the South African production “My Octopus Teacher by filmmakers Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed.

The underwater cinematographer Craig Foster documents the life of an octopus off the Southern coast of Africa over a number of months. The growing attachment to this unusual wild creature enables Foster to capture footage of rare cinematic and emotional intensity. “My Octopus Teacher” also won the Green Screen “Best Story” and “Best Marine Film” awards.
