Conditions of Participation 2018

1. Film Competition

1.1. The organizer and sponsor is the GREEN SCREEN Förderverein Eckernförde e.V.

1.2. Eligible for the competition are documentary films from all over the world with a focus on nature, animals and the environment that have been completed within the past three calendar years. A film that has been submitted once, but not selected, can only be submitted one more time. If the original version is neither English nor German, the film must be subtitled in German or English. In certain cases exceptions may be made by agreement. Exceptions by arrangement.

1.3. An annually appointed selection and nomination jury selected by the organizer selects the festival program from all submitted feature films (from 25 minutes long) and nominates three films per category. Another Award jury, newly selected each year, will select the winners in the respective categories as well as the winner of the "Best Film" award, which will be selected from all nominated productions.

1.4. Each year, a short film jury selected by the organizer selects two short film programs from all submitted short films (up to 15 minutes in length). These films are nominated for the corresponding short film awards.

1.5. The winners of the Audience Awards will be determined by the public in a secret ballot.

1.6. Award winners in the categories "Best Camera, Post Production, Music and Story" are the corresponding performers. In all other categories, it is the directors. The submitter decides on the distribution of prize money.

1.7. The decisions of the juries are final and not contestable. The legal process is excluded.

2. Film Submission

2.1. The film submission is possible from 12/15/2017 - 03/15/2018. Films will be judged in all selected categories.

2.2. Films submitted in the category "Best Independent Production" must be demonstrably self-financed and produced independently of any editorial influence by a television broadcaster or another client.

2.3. For each film 40,00 € entry fees are charged. It contains a category specified by the submitter. Each additional category costs 5,00 € The fee to enter the category "Newcomer" is 20,00 €. The submission of shortfilms is free. The fee must be paid by March 15th 2018 to the account GREEN SCREEN e.V., IBAN: DE14 2109 2023 0011 3735 23, BIC: GENODEF1EFO, Eckernförder Bank eG, or on the PayPal account info@greenscreen-festival.de. (All prices incl. VAT) Earlybird: 25% off the full entry fee for submissions before January 15, 2018.

2.4. All necessary submission documents and a copy of the submitted film (if possible in HD) must be received before submission deadline by GREEN SCREEN e.V, Frau-Clara-Str. 18, 24340 Eckernförde.

2.5. Possible formats are: BluRay (alternatively DVD), hard disk / stick, (no RAW) or by link (film@greenscreen-festival.de): 1920 x 1080, h.264 min. 20Mbps, CBR @ 25fps, (if from abroad 29.97fps / 30fps), PAL, SqP (1.0), 4.2 Level, PROGRESSIVE SCAN, AAC 48Hz, Stereo, Multiplexing @ MP4 / Standard. Please send in films without sender ID or copy protection.

2.6. Submission of demo media is at the risk and expense of the submitter. (Also when shipping to and from other festivals). Demonstration media from non-EU countries must have the customs declaration "Only for cultural purposes, shipment has no commercial value" on the packaging. Costs incurred by the organizer due to a false declaration will be charged to the submitter. Re-import papers may need to be requested from the relevant customs office and enclosed with the return.

2.7. All submitted material remains with the organizer. The return of the presentation media is on request (please specify the return address in the submission form). The show media are insured with their material value until the end of the event. Any claims for damages are to be asserted within 10 days after the return.

2.8. The submission is binding. A submitted film may not be withdrawn. The electronic submission is valid without signature.

3. Usage and rights

3.1. The submitter of a film declares that he is authorized to submit the film and makes it available to the organizer free of charge. He guarantees all necessary rights of use for public screenings of the film as well as for uses according to section 3.2. and 3.3. of this paragraph and declares to be entitled to transfer these rights of use. He further assures that no copyright or ancillary copyrights or personal rights of third parties are infringed by these uses. In the case of claims of third parties as a result of a violation of such rights, the submitter commits himself to indemnify the organizer from any resulting claims. This also includes required and reasonable costs of legal defense.

3.2. The submitter confirms that up to three minutes of the submitted film as well as photographs and film images for advertising purposes and as an indication of the GREEN SCREEN Festival may be used by the organizer free of charge. This refers to use in all media (e.g., print, broadcast, television and online media). If a copyright should be indicated it must be stated.

3.3. An integral part of the festival is an educational program for schools as well as additional events in which films of the festival program are also shown outside the festival days by the organizer. GREEN SCREEN e.V. also presents outstanding films of the festival program in a shortened form as part of a nationwide tour program. With the submission, the submitter agrees that his film may also be shown at these events. Remuneration claims do not arise here. The possible revocation of this consent must be made upon submission.

 

In case of doubt, the German version of the conditions of participation applies. The place of jurisdiction is Eckernförde.
