The Festival 2011

Fascination Festival

Restraint is advised when it comes to superlatives. But only for the reason of being able to use them when the occasion arises. Green Screen No. 5 is reason enough for this: What a festival! The number and quality of the films, the number of visitors, the fantastic atmosphere in the city, the professional presentation of the festival in front of and behind the scenes, as well as Inge Sielmann's stroke of genius at the award ceremony have put an exclamation mark that can be perceived throughout the country. Eckernförde has risen to become the top address for nature filmmakers who feel at home in Eckernförde, who feel the passion in the city, and who, while filming all over the world, may occasionally catch themselves thinking how their future flick will be received by the jury of the next Green Screen Festival. The honorary festival support association, which has contributed decisively to the success, was truly in the limelight on Saturday as the new Sielmann Award winner, and rightly so. The audience celebrated the great troupe and also Inge Sielmann, who made this unusual decision. It says it all that the nearly 700 guests also applauded the 50-second-long closing credits with the names of the 100 volunteers from A to Z throughout. The Kuhhaus at Gut Altenhof also passed its green-screen film premiere brilliantly. The rustic atmosphere did the event noticeably good, perhaps one should book the alternate quarter immediately for 2012. Far less brilliant was the political presence this evening. You have to go and be there to feel the festival spirit. But maybe all the tickets were already sold out.
