The Festival 2014
The Green Screen International Nature Film Festival in Eckernförde, Schleswig-Holstein, has established itself as the largest festival of its kind in Germany and, with 14,500 visitors, is the festival with the largest audience of its kind in Europe.
The organizers drew a positive balance at the end of the eighth festival on Monday. The interest of the audience in top productions from the field of nature films and nature documentaries is unbroken. Green Screen has also become a mecca for professionals from the nature film industry. More than 130 experts - filmmakers, producers and program managers from German and European TV stations - used the festival for professional exchanges and to plan new productions. The experts from Germany, other European countries as well as Canada, Japan, India and South Africa also attended the specialist seminars offered parallel to the festival for information and further training.The prizes awarded by Green Screen are coveted trophies in the professional world. At a festive gala with 600 guests, prizes were awarded in 16 categories. The English production "Penguins Up Close" received the award for "Best Film", while the German documentary "Australia - In the Realm of the Giant Kangaroos" by filmmakers Thoralf Grospitz and Jens Westphalen won in the "Best Camera" category.242 nature films from 35 countries had been submitted to this year's festival, including for the first time films from Mozambique, Chile and Kyrgyzstan. Exactly 100 films were shown during the five days of the festival.
