Genius sea hunter. Hunter-voyagers

Using the very latest camera technology - drones, high-speed cameras and underwater cameras -, the scientists will explore and explain the wealth of tricks and tactics used by marine wildlife as never before.

Director: Jérôme Julienne

Jérôme Julienne is a writer-director who specializes in marine and underwater films. After studying cinema, he joined Jacques Cousteau’s crew as an underwater cameraman and assistant director on 14 films. Then he worked as a screenwriter and director for Canal+ on the Dans la Nature and Aqua series. Since then, he has written around 50 programs and directed more than 25 international films for leading French broadcasters in coproduction with Discovery, PBS, and Radio Canada. His most recent films include Aliens of the Deep Sea (52’ France 3 Thalassa, Canal D Canada) and Vacarme en haute mer (52’ France 2). Along with Andy Byatt and John Jackson, he co-wrote the 3x52’ 3D series Hurricane The Anatomy (ARTE/3net). He recently wrote and directed Conversations with Dolphins (65’ France 3 Thalassa – CBC Canada “Nature of Things”), and Cuba, Paradise on the Brink (2x52’ ARTE). John Jackson studied filmmaking at the Brooke Institute in Santa Barbara, California, where he was recruited by the American arm of The Cousteau Society. Over the course of multiple expeditions, he was head cameraman for the Cousteau team, and over 12 years made 25 films. Since then, he has regularly worked as cameraman and director for the BBC, National Geographic, and Discovery, along with the major French channels, making scientific, historical, maritime, and extreme adventure films. He has just finished filming and codirecting the 3x52 3D series Hurricane The Anatomy for ARTE and 3D Net, and recently completed Conversations with Dolphins (65’ France 3 Thalassa), and Cuba, Paradise on the Brink (2x52’ ARTE).

Director: John Jackson

John Jackson studied filmmaking at the Brooke Institute in Santa Barbara, California, where he was recruited by the American arm of The Cousteau Society. Over the course of multiple expeditions, he was head cameraman for the Cousteau team, and over 12 years made 25 films. Since then, he has regularly worked as cameraman and director for the BBC, National Geographic, and Discovery, along with the major French channels, making scientific, historical, maritime, and extreme adventure films. He has just finished filming and codirecting the 3x52 3D series “Ouragan” for Arte and 3D Net, and recently completed Conversation avec les Dauphins (65’ France 3 Thalassa), and Cuba, un Paradis en sursis (2x52’ ARTE).
