Im Reich der Auen - Die Oker

An enchanted floodplain is hidden in the east of Lower Saxony: the Oker. It rises in the Harz Mountains and forms a natural paradise in the lowlands around Braunschweig, which resembles tropical rivers in its richness of species. Banded damselflies flutter on sapphire-colored wings over the floodplains, where foxes raise their young and beavers build castles.

Dagmar Hilfert-Rüppel and Georg Rüppel show these butterfly-like dragonflies in aesthetic slow-motion photographs.
