Jewels of the Alps - Italy’s Great Lakes: Lake Iseo

Beset by wild weather capers, Lake Iseo shows its proverbial 1000 faces in late autumn. While people are harvesting olives, restoring Riva boats or exploring mysterious waterways of a karst cave, the animals of the bald cypress forest, the peat bog and the mountains are preparing for winter. At their center rests the lake, around which wilderness and civilization merge in close proximity.

Director: Rosie Koch

Rosie Koch, born on 20.09.1970 in Balingen, studied biology in Mainz, Jena and Tübingen after graduating from high school. During an internship in Ludwigsburg, she learned AVID editing, camera work and image processing. During her doctoral thesis in St. Louis, USA, about naked mole rats in Kenya, she created several, partly award-winning, animal short documentaries on her own. Another internship at Story House Productions in Berlin was followed by a 3-year employment at Marco Polo Film AG in Heidelberg as a researcher and director. In 2010 she founded her own nature film production company Nona Naturedocx. Mostly in collaboration with her partner, the cameraman Roland Gockel, the director and producer creates since then partly award-winning nature and animal films, as well as nature or animal protection relevant reports for public German and French television.
